Objectives

To provide an equal opportunity
to make music that can be adapted to suit all abilities.

For the group to be able to play
a simple tune by the end of their first workshop.

To learn about Steel Pans in
general; the different types of instruments and their
synergy with a modern orchestra or choir in terms of tonal
quality and function in an ensemble.

To learn about how the steel pan
has evolved within the Caribbean culture from the days of
slavery, through the second world war to present day.
-
For
the participants to demonstrate their playing proficiency
with a performance to an audience at the end of the
workshop.

To provide the tools to enable
the participants to present their knowledge of the different
steel pan instruments and manufacturing process as part of
the end of workshop performance.
